Use Your Words! My Vacation

Today's post is a writing challenge, dreamt up by the fabulous Karen from Baking In A Tornado. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

The words I got were:  Mother Nature is a .... ~  Polar Vortex ~ Vomit ~ Wondrous ~ Tropics ~ Germs

Come on over, pull up a lounge chair, and grab yourself a cute umbrella drink. I'm glad you could join me in the sunshine, with the warm breeze, the sea air, and the swaying of the palm trees. Why did you decide to head to the tropics?  Me?  That damn polar vortex forced me out of my east coast USA hometown with it's frigid temperatures. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a New England girl, I should be used to the cold. But there's cold and then there's cold. And in my heart I'm a sunshiney beach girl. There's nothing like kicking back in the warm sand, the wondrous sound of waves lapping the shore, and the sun beaming down on your face.

The weather back home? It was the final 16 inches of snow that did it for me. Snow, on top of ice, on top of snow. And the negative temperatures. I mean, come on, negative temperatures??! That crap is just not necessary. You lose feeling in your fingers and your face freezes from the frigid air. And red is not my color, I do not look good sporting a rosy nose. I don't know how winter is flu season; how can germs survive in that kind of frigid atmosphere? As if the bitter cold isn't enough, let's add in a hacking cough, snotty nose, and vomit.

So, here I am, relaxing in the sun, enjoying the warmth and calm. Wait, what's that you said about the tropics? Cyclones? Hurricanes?  ................

Mother Nature is a...... *&#*$!!

  1. Man, I want to be near the ocean again! Frozen nose hairs have never been a good look (or feel). This was the first year I was truly glad to not be in my home state. Michigan has been pounded! Like you said, we should be used to it, but having wind chills of 40 below is just wrong. Stay warm, girl!

    1. It is wrong! I mean, seriously, knock it off. Instead of being used to it I just get more aggravated every year lol

  2. LOL yes Mother nature has been a real...her panties have been in a big ol' bunch. Snow dumped on the east coast of NC, we do NOT get snow. Even snow here in South GA.
I'd love to be in the tropics, as long as the weather is good :)

    1. What did we do to tick her off so bad? Dang. And yes, hurricanes aside, I'd LOVE to be in the tropics!

    1. I hate the cold! If we somehow could have snow and it still be warm out it might not be so bad.

  4. Love how you used your words because I couldn't agree with the sentiment more. This winter, although unbearably cold, is the first time I didn't mind being in the Midwest, at least we got almost no snow.
    BTW: Love your graphics too!

  6. Wow, I was wondering what you were going to do with those words when I started reading!
Thank you for taking us to the beach, I think we can all use some warmth.

PS: Your finish just inspired me for a future prompt. One of my words might be "*&#*$!!" ;-)))

    1. Haha! It's a good word, right? Fits very well when talking about insane amounts of snow and endless low temps!

  7. I can't imagine living in that much snow or being that cold.
Then again, coming from Southern California where it is 83 degrees today, I am a total weather wiener.
Tough words but you did a great job with them!
    Enjoy your beach!

    1. 'Weather wiener"! That is awesome, I love it! And I'd be a weather wiener any day if it meant being in the 80's all the time!

  8. Hello,
Wow! You got polar vortex as one of your words. It is a funny phrase and I don't know what I would have done with it. You took the words and made great sentences out of them. You definitely earned a beach vacation, not only because of your wonderful post but also because of all the horrendous weather you had to endure.

    1. Thank you! I admit, I had to google Polar Vortex because I wasn't sure of the exact definition :) But it was kind of confusing so I just winged it!

  9. Love the ending! I sort of hate you for being warm right now, but love that you were still able to make me smile.

    1. Lol! If only the beach part were true... instead, as I type this, we are getting yet another snow storm with a predicted 4-7 inches of snow. On top of the one million inches we already have.

  10. Totally sympathize and wish you do get that vacation soon!

  11. I know what you mean. It snowed here once this winter, and today, the highs got only into the 40s. I might need a jacket, even. And it's only going to be in the high 60s this weekend. Awful.
